In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, book club attendees at Sunday’s meeting chose an Irish writer for March. We’ll be reading Colm Tóibín’s novel Brooklyn. Tóibín is currently Irene and Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University. Brooklyn won the 2009 Costa Novel Award, was shortlisted for the 2011 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and was longlisted for the 2009 Man Booker Prize. In 2012, The Observer named it as one of “The 10 best historical novels”. We will meet on Sunday, March 20th at 4:30. Here is the Amazon link to the novel: http://smile.amazon.com/Brooklyn-Novel-Colm-Toibin-ebook/dp/B0026SCMNM/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1456170390&sr=1-1&keywords=brooklyn
