RAINBOW ALLIANCE PUBLISHES
2007-08 PRIDE GUIDE

August 26, 2007 (Wilkes-Barre, PA) –   The Rainbow Alliance, the largest organization serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community in the Northeastern Pennsylvania region, announced the release of the 2007 Pride Guide.

A joint venture between The Rainbow Alliance in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area and Pride of the Greater Lehigh Valley in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area, the Pride Guide features local businesses in the community who are welcoming and supportive of GLBT patrons and couples.

“It’s an easy way for businesses to show that they support the entire community in which they serve,” said John Dawe, Rainbow Alliance executive director.  “Too many calls to our hotline or e-mails from our website are from GLBT individuals or couples who have been turned away from using a banquet hall for their commitment ceremony because of discrimination.   Sometimes it’s just a couple who received sub-par service due to their sexual orientation.”

Funds raised from ad sales benefit both organizations’ programs and services.  The guide is free to the public.

Guides are available at:

  • 12 Penny Saloon, 3501 Birney Avenue, Moosic, PA
  • Barnes and Noble (Free Magazines Section), Arena Hub Plaza, Wilkes-Barre, PA
